Every single person you meet- at the corner store, crossing the street, getting a coffee- has had an indescribably unique and fascinating life. (Just like you.)
Every person has been shaped by experiences over time which have happened only to them in that exact way. (Carved from clay, soaked and re-formed. What a gift to endlessly become.)
Every person you meet was once a child. They have played with toy blocks under someone’s dining room table. They have startled awake from a nightmare. They have wondered who they would become and why they are here. They have found themselves in the arms of another human being, perhaps lost themselves just the same. They have turned their face toward the sun in early spring. They have had a sip of water and felt grateful. They have watched the news and felt numb. They have hugged and been hugged. They have forgiven and been forgiven. They have made a difference- at least once. They have cried out for their Higher Power- whether they know it or not.
Every person you meet longs to be valued and loved by their ancestors, community, neighbors, self, earth. (To belong here.)
Every person you meet is a soul in a body having a human experience. (A wisdom born from being.)
Every person you meet is an expression of our shared consciousness. (Collective.)
Human beings always embody authenticity, joyousness, and connection when they are physically, spiritually, and emotionally liberated. (Imagine having what you need.)
Human beings only abandon their authentic desire to love and be loved when they have been pinned under the weight of neglect. (Forgive yourself and others.)
And yet, despite all of it, every day- there are beautiful human beings- showing their love in small and humble ways- reclaiming the tender heart of humanity. (A thing that can not be taken.)
Every person you meet is a coward shapeshifting into a lion before your eyes. (Together, we become brave enough to love.)
For this, it is easy to love humans.
As the night sky stretches to fill our days,
As we sit facing the hearth,
As we embrace our interior life,
May you love and be loved.
May you celebrate and be celebrated.
May you cherish your own human-ness.
